Grayson Earle is a contemporary artist and tactical media practitioner based in Berlin. His work examines the role that digital technologies and networks play in resistance and political agency. He is a member of The Illuminator, a guerrilla projection collective, and the creator of Bail Bloc, software that mined cryptocurrency to post bail for low-income people in New York City.
Throughout his residency, Earle will be working with the EU Policy Lab in Brussels – a collaborative an experimental space for innovative policymaking – to investigate and envision possible futures of human-AI collaboration in European policymaking, examining how emerging forms of interaction between people and AI might reshape policy work, institutions and decision-making.
Since the launch of ChatGPT, we primarily interact with Large Language Models in chat windows.
It has been a product decision rather than a property of the technology, and it has left almost everyone using a social tool in private, one person to one model, with no witnesses. Meanwhile dead internet theory is turning from forum joke into engineering fact as agents become ordinary occupants of public space online. MMOLLM leans into that condition rather than proposing a way out of it: a multi-user, multi-agent protocol built on git repositories, where a group inhabits one shared model context at once. Its unit is the room, a context with a declared purpose and a configuration file that every participant can read before entering and fork afterwards.
The residency tests this in public. A Bladerunner contest has participants build agents meant to pass as human and detectors meant to catch them, logging beforehand who each person believes is which and why, so the exercise leaves behind a record of what people think distinguishes a human from a model and how often they are right.
